I and my family went here with 3 vehicles for years. I never thought to verify the need for parts they told me were bad. U know like trusted a local company? Well I had my Suzuki xl7 in because my brakes, shoes, pads, rotars, suspension, radiator supposedly were bad to the tune of $2000+. Then I got it inspected their a month after the repairs they said it needed over $1000+ on engine cleaning for emissions to pass. I didn't want to pay or have another $1000+. I just spent $2000+ on the other stuff the month before. So they offered me $500 for the car and I like a fool once again trusted this local company. Then in 5/16 my dad's Ford ranger needed inspected (he is a disabled army vet with no money and no right lung due to cancer) they said the truck he drives every day which I'm sitting in as I write this review at giant has ran without issues for over 7 years we have owned it. But they said it needed over $1400+ in repairs including ball joints. He was devistated all he makes is $1300 a month on disability. I told him I'd get a second opinion because I didn't have the money. So I went to JACK WILLIAMS and his truck's ball joints were fine and two years later are still fine! So Zimmermans has lost my business because they are a business of deception and fraud. Just trying to warn any other honest people of Zimmermans fraud and deception!
Thank you for your review, Sage! Let me start by saying that we at Zimmerman’s Automotive, have been in business for 60 years and we care deeply about the safety of our customers and their families. We provide an honest and fair pricing for every person that walks through our doors. When it comes to a PA State Safety inspection, we are required by the state of PA to make sure that every vehicle meets the requirements of the state mandated inspections. We take this very seriously and are not able to do anyone “favors” and pass a vehicle that does not meet the state mandated specs (our integrity and company values are too important to us). Sadly, your father’s truck did not pass these requirements. When you requested that you would like to take the truck for a second opinion, we gave you the keys to do so. You did tell us that you were going to take the truck to a friend that works at Jack Williams. Not a problem for us because we are honest in our work and stand by every decision we make. You gave us a call to tell us that your friend at Jack Williams told you that there was nothing wrong with the ball joints and that we had lied to you. We asked that you bring your truck back, free of charge, to allow us to show you what we were seeing and why it didn’t pass. You were in agreement to this and told us you would be in the next day. You did not show up. Unfortunately, you did not give us the chance to show you what did not pass and it has now been a year since this happened (June 2017). As for your Suzuki, you made mention that you brought the vehicle in for a PA State Safety inspection a month after getting a $2000 repair bill from us. Our records do not indicate that you were ever at our business for an inspection for the Suzuki. The two visits we did have you in for were for a complaint of (1) brakes grinding, on the date of 12/20/2016 and (2) a coolant leak and check engine light, on the date of 1/6/2017. With the first visit we did brake pads, rotors, and shoes in the amount of $854.32. On the second visit, it was found that your radiator was leaking and the check engine light was on due to an EGR valve code. The notes from the invoice were as follows “Code P0401 (EGR insufficient flow) is setting Check Engine light. Tested EGR valve operation, valve is working properly. Ports are clogged to the valve. Intake manifold will need removed and ports cleaned to correct this”. You had us replace the radiator but declined the repair to turn the check engine light off. The total bill for this repair was $738.75. The estimate to repair the check engine light was $538.85 to replace the intake manifold in order to clear the check engine light. This was the last time we saw your Suzuki. Thank you again for the review! Please feel free to call me anytime to discuss the issue further. Jacquie Walter-Hower Director of Operations
